Israel Adesanya and Dricus du Plessis had a long face-off ahead of UFC 305

After losing to Sean Strickland at UFC 293, Israel Adesanya took a long break and is now set to return after eleven months of inactivity. Taking his huge stature into account, he has been given the title shot in his return fight. Adesanya and Du Plessis had an uproarious face-off at UFC 290, when Du Plessis defeated Robert Whittaker. Back then Adesanya was the champion and a fight with Du Plessis looked imminent. However, Du Plessis could not recover on time and hence Strickland came into the frame. As it happened, the Adesanya vs Du Plessis fight has made it to the card, ready to become the talk of every town.

In the run-up to the fight, the two had an immense stare-down during Tuesday's press event. Here's the video of the never-ending face-off.

Israel Adesanya on UFC 305 fight against Dricus du Plessis

We've had history, over the years,' Adesanya said.
'It's almost like destiny because we met in Thailand, Tiger Muay Thai back in the day. Had a little little play around, and funny enough, here we are again. It's like full circle, back where it all started for me.

'Again, he tried to discredit the Three Kings and say that he's the real true African champion. And I was just, like, it's a weird mindset, bro.'
'Like he came in the UFC, I knew who he was a little bit, but I didn't go, 'Oh, who the f— is this fake dude coming in?' I just said, 'Cool, he's another African in the UFC.'
