Rohit Sharma-led Team India are home bound. After almost a week of being stuck in the Caribbean Islands, Sharma and his men will now return to India and bring the cup to where it belongs, to the people of India. It is now confirmed, that a victory parade will take place in Mumbai and it is Rohit Sharma who has confirmed it through his social media.
‘India, we want to enjoy this special moment with all of you. So let’s celebrate this win with a victory parade at Marine Drive & Wankhede on July 4th from 5:00pm onwards. It’s coming home.’, posted Rohit.
India scripted history on June 29. 2024 as they outplayed and outsmarted Aiden Markram's South Africa in the finals of the T20 World Cup. This is India's second T20 World Cup title. With this victory India also became, only the third team to win the T20 World Cup twice after England (2010 & 2022) and West Indies (2012 & 2016). In the match that was played at the Kensington Oval, Barbados, India won the toss and decided to bat first and rest is history.

Moments of a victory parade still might be afresh in the minds of the Indian cricket fans which happened back in 2007. MS Dhoni's Team India after winning their first World T20 Championship marched towards the Wankhede with a sea of blue behind them. Team India's return to the subcontinent was halted by hurricane Beryl which made landfall in Barbados on the midnight of July 30, 2024. Not only the Indian team, but their families and Indian journalists too couldn't make their exit from the island nation.
Rohit Sharma is now the only third Indian captain to get his hands on an ICC trophy along with MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev. MS Dhoni is a three time ICC Trophy winner whereas Kapil Dev won India's first white-ball World Cup in 1983. This also marks a special record for Rahul Dravid who happens to be India's only ODI and T20 Player to win the World T20 as a coach.
