Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking incident, a major tragedy at Kamla Raja Women and Child Hospital was averted after a false ceiling of the ICU ward of the Pediatric Department collapsed on Friday.

According to officials, no newborn baby and children were hurt in the incident, however around 13 children were admitted to the surrounding beds.

Earlier, in December last year a portion of the ceiling of a government primary school in Makodiya Rundi village in Sailana of Ratlam district collapsed.

According to officials, the school building had been in severe dilapidated condition for a long time, several complaints went unheeded by authorities. More than 50 students, ranging from classes I to V, were attending the school. Teachers and students had repeatedly alerted officials about the poor state of the building for the past 18 months.

The collapse primarily impacted the front section of the school. Surrounding the school are residential areas where children often participate in activities on the premises.

This event has stirred concern among local residents and prompted questions regarding the responsibility of officials in ensuring the safety of educational institutions. Vigilant citizens have called for prompt measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The inadequate infrastructure has been adversely affecting the quality of education for students.
