Malayalm Director Venugopan Dies At 67, Industry Offers Condolences
Venugopan is survived by his wife, Latha, and his children Lakshmi and Vishnu Gopan. His last rites is scheduled for 8:30 PM in the night.
Malayalam director Venugopan died at his home in Cherthala at the age of 67. The news was confirmed by actor Anoop Menon. He was known for directing superhit movies such as Sharja to Sharja, Swarnam and Kusruthi Kurup.
Venugopan's last rite details
Actor Anoop Menon took to his Facebook handle to pay tribute to the departed soul. Sharing a photo of the director, he wrote, “Adieu Venu etta...a beautiful soul, a wonderful friend, a genuine filmmaker..the fun filled times we spent shooting 'sarvopari palakaaran' will forever remain in all our hearts.”
His last rites is reportedly scheduled for 8:30 PM in the night.
Who was Venugopan?
The director has not just given the hit movies to the Malayalm film industry, but his contribution extended beyond it. He has also served as the second unit director for classic movies such as Njan Gandharvan, Innale and Season. His last directorial venture was the 2017 movie Sarvopari Palakkaran, starring Anoop, Aparna Balamurali and Anu Sithara in the lead roles.
Venugopan is survived by his wife, Latha, and his children, a daughter Lakshmi, who works at NISH Thiruvananthapuram, and a son, Vishnu Gopan, an engineer at FISCHER. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Raveesh.
