Darshan's Farmhouse Manager Committed Suicide, Note And Video Message Recovered: Report

Bengaluru: Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa's manager, Sridhar, committed suicide at the actor's farmhouse in Bengaluru in April 2024, according to police. The incident occurred two months back before Darshan was arrested in connection with the murder of his fan Renukaswamy earlier this month. 

Sridhar had left behind a suicide note and a video message, both of which cited extreme loneliness as the reason for his decision, as per media reports. He specifically requested that authorities refrain from implicating his loved ones, stating that he alone was responsible for his death.

This tragic event has prompted police to investigate any potential links to the Renukaswamy murder case, in which Darshan is implicated. The incident follows reports that Darshan's former manager, Mallikarjun, has been missing since 2018 after allegedly embezzling Rs 2 crore from the actor.

Darshan was arrested in connection with the Renuka Swamy murder case. The case involves allegations that Renukaswamy had sent inappropriate messages to Darshan's girlfriend, actress Pavithra Gowda, prompting Darshan to retaliate. It is alleged that Darshan paid a group of his fans to kidnap, assault, and ultimately murder Renuka, whose body was later found in a drain in Bengaluru.

Who is Darshan Thoogudeepa?

Darshan, a popular actor in the Kannada film industry (Sandalwood), was born on February 16, 1977. He is the son of the Kannada actor Thoogudeepa Srinivas. Darshan made a significant impact with his debut film Majestic in 2001, which was a major hit and established him as a leading actor in the industry.

Darshan Thoogudeepa had been taken into custody in a murder case, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda told PTI. The 47-year-old was picked up in connection with the murder of a man, identified as Renukaswamy, on June 9 in Kamakshipalya area of the city, PTI reported. The police are probing to find out if the actor was directly involved in the murder or was part of the conspiracy.
