Bollywood Box Office Clash: Independence Day is a lucrative holiday for filmmakers to showcase their work on the big screen owing to the National Holiday. This year, the day holds more importance as it is accompanied by a long weekend and Rakshabandhan festivities providing better opportunities for the films. Consequently, three Bollywood biggies have booked the date for release. Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2, John Abraham-Sharvari Wagh's action Flick Vedaa and ensemble film led by Akshay Kumar - Khel Khel Mein are all releasing on August 15. Despite the clash, the makers of the movies have shown camaraderie and highlighted the importance of co-existence while addressing the situation.

We support all films', says Vedaa producer Monisha Bhojwani

Speaking at the trailer launch event of Vedaa on August 1, the makers of the movie addressed the 3-way clash. The John Abraham film was initially scheduled to be released in July but was postponed due to pending clearance from CBFC, eventually landing the I-day spot. Speaking at the trailer launch of the film producer Monisha Bhojwani said, “The phase our industry is going through. It's important that we support all films.” The film also features Abhishek Banerjee in a pivotal role, along with Tamannaah Bhatia in a special appearance.

Stree 2 producer deems box office clash between films as ‘survival of the fittest’

Stree 2 producer Jyoti Deshpande calls the simultaneous release of Vedaa, and Khel Khel Mein with her own flick “survival of the fittest.” “There are only 52 weeks in a year. We don’t release films during Hindu rituals (Shradh), IPL, Ramdan, and if some Khan film is releasing or a big South Indian film is releasing that leaves us with only 20 weeks. The clash is bound to happen. So it’s survival of the fittest, the jungle law,” the producer said during the Stree 2 trailer launch in Mumbai.

She said that whenever two or three films are ready to clash on the release date, it means ‘we are coming with the feeling ki Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’. “So, we’re super confident,” she said. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is the sequel of the highly appreciated 2017 horror-comedy and 5th part of the Maddock Supernatural Universe.

Khel Khel Mein makers on clash: Festive weekend is coming

The sense of camaraderie within the fraternity was echoed by the makers of Khel Khel Mein as well. The director of the upcoming comedy-drama Mudassar Aziz, talked about the box-office clash at the trailer launch of the film. Speaking at the trailer launch event at PVR Juhu in Mumbai on Friday, Mudassar said: "We are all part of Hindi cinema. A festive weekend is coming, and I don't view it as us against them. That's not how I see this."

"I love Amar Kaushik (the director of 'Stree 2'), and I have great respect for his work. I want both our films to do well. I want Hindi films to do well. We have to work hard enough to make our industry prosper. When a festive weekend like that comes, we should come and ask our audiences to join us," Mudassar shared. With its stellar cast and a storyline that blends quirky humour with relatable emotions, Khel Khel Mein aims to redefine the genre and captivate audiences of all ages.
