In an interview with Galatta Plus, Nikkhil Advani shared that he was once talking to Allu Arjun when the Pushpa actor pointed out "what’s wrong with Bollywood.” He recalled, "I met Allu Arjun and we were talking about doing a film and he looked at me and he said ‘you know what’s wrong with Bollywood?’ You all have forgotten how to be heroes."
Elaborating on Allu Arjun's opinion, Nikkhil talked about the heroism presentation of protagonists in South cinema, He said while everyone thinks about South cinema being "mythology", they take the core emotion and make a film out of it. Supporting his statement with an example he said, "Like water irrigation, let’s make a film about it and now they have packaged that with incredible action, incredible moments of heroism.”
The filmmaker went on to speak about the heroism of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan in movies such as Coolie and Kaalia.

Earlier in an interview, Allu Arjun opined on Bollywood's bad phase post-COVID-19 pandemic and said he had always "looked up to Bollywood, and we have a huge respect for them.” He added that just because Bollywood had a "small bad phase," it is "very unfair" to put Bollywood in a bad light. “They’ve given great cinema for 6-7 decades. There is a lot of Bollywood’s influence on South cinema, and South cinema’s influence on Bollywood as well. At the end of the day, we all are like brothers, who have mutual respect for each other from the different land," the Pushpa 2 actor added.
Meanwhile, Nikkhil Advani was promoting his upcoming movie Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, when he shared his opinion about the North vs South debate.
