Viral! Couple Finds Flying To Milan For A Sandwich Cheaper Than A Trip To London

Ever flown over to another country just to try out their sandwiches? A couple based out of the United Kingdom visited Milan to try out decedent sandwiches. Unexpectedly they claimed that visiting Milan proved cheaper than grabbing a sandwich in the UK, as per media reports.

Trip to Milan more affordable than sandwiches in the UK? 

Sharon Summer, 49, and her partner, Dan Puddifoot, decided to satisfy their craving for a unique sandwich experience abroad. They discovered that round-trip flights from Cranfield, Bedfordshire, to Milan, cost only £14, significantly less than the £35 to £50 they would have spent travelling to London. The flight took them only an hour and a half to travel.  

All about a sandwich trip to Milan

The couple's spontaneous adventure began as a way to explore something new without breaking the bank. Upon arrival in Milan, they enjoyed a day filled with sightseeing and sampling local cuisine, including the sandwiches they travelled for. According to Sharon, the experience was both enjoyable and cost-effective. "It's cheaper than getting to London, and that's how I sold it to my boyfriend," she explained. The ease of navigating Milan's public transport also added to the convenience of their trip, with a train from the airport to the city centre costing less than ten euros.
 

The total expense for their Milan adventure, including flights and food, was just £98.28 for two people. Sharon, who is on a personal mission to complete 50 experiences before turning 50, described the day trip as a unique and fulfilling experience. "It's about the experience of doing it. You feel like you've had a holiday in one day," she said, reflecting on their whirlwind visit that included 20,000 steps of exploration. This story highlights the surprising affordability of European travel and the appeal of spontaneous adventures. For Sharon and Dan, what started as a simple quest for sandwiches became a memorable day out, showcasing that sometimes, the journey itself can be just as rewarding as the destination.
