REVA University, a pioneer in higher education, proudly inaugurated its induction and orientation programme for the new batch of non-technical programmes for the academic year 2024-2025 on Wednesday. The event, held at Saugandhika, REVA University, featured Aman Gupta, Co-founder of boAt Lifestyle, as the chief guest. Known for his unique charm and youthful energy, Gupta inspired the new students with his insights on entrepreneurship and innovation as he inaugurated the event.

Reflecting on his college days, Gupta shared his experiences, stating, "When I see a lot of students, I feel energetic and inspired. That’s exactly what I want to tell you all—be energetic and be passionate in all you do." He recounted his journey, emphasising that until the age of 35, he was uncertain about his career path. "I completed my degree, followed by CA, and I was clueless. I established five startups, but none of them succeeded. It was after these failures that boAt Lifestyle was born," he said. Gupta highlighted the importance of embracing failures as learning experiences and encouraged students to find and follow their passions during their time at the University.

Dr. P. Shyama Raju, Chancellor of REVA University, in his presidential address, emphasised the University’s commitment to holistic education. “At REVA University, we believe in holistic learning that transcends traditional academic boundaries. This includes not just academic knowledge but also character development and spirit. As I always say, I want all of you to become job providers, leaders, and role models by the time you graduate from this Temple of Learning. I also want all of you to become all-rounders, equipped to face future challenges with confidence,” Dr. Raju stated.

Umesh S. Raju, Pro Chancellor; Dr. N. Ramesh, Vice Chancellor(I/C); Dr. RC ; Biradar, Pro Vice Chancellor; Dr. Shubha A, Pro Vice Chancellor; Dr. Sanjay Chitnis, Pro Vice Chancellor also graced the occasion.

Following the inauguration, a Question & Answer session provided students the opportunity to engage with Gupta. In response to a question about how he established boAt Lifestyle and transformed it into a global brand, he shared his passion for gadgets and his desire to create an Indian brand that meets global standards. "All I did was think differently, and boAt was born," he said. He also drew a parallel with REVA University’s own story, highlighting how Shyama Raju thought differently about giving back to society.

To a question on how his company emerged as a global brand, he said, “I believe that Customer is the God. Look at what they want and follow their needs without fail.” When asked about turning an idea into a reality, Gupta stressed the importance of execution. "I genuinely believe that it’s not always about ideas alone. Execution is the key. You take an idea from anywhere and execute it with the right pricing, right marketing, and at the right place," he advised.

Pro Chancellor Umesh S. Raju asked why he chose the brand name boAt, and he explained, "For everyone who reads English, it’s A for Apple and B for Boat. Since the first one is already taken, I opted for the next." He added, "Jokes apart, our tagline says 'Plug into Nirvana.' This means whenever you wear our boAt headphones, you plug into your zone or plug into your happiness. That was our intention."

This year's induction programme is designed to facilitate a smooth transition into university life, providing students with essential information about their respective programmes, campus resources, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

As REVA University continues to nurture talent and foster innovation, the new batch is set to embark on an enriching educational journey that prepares them for success in their future careers.
