Nasa's Juno Mission Captures Jupiter's Colourful and Chaotic Energy

A stunning new image of Jupiter's northern hemisphere has been released by NASA, depicting the planet's chaotic energy and cyclonic storms in detail.

New Delhi: A stunning new image of Jupiter's northern hemisphere has been released by NASA, depicting the planet's chaotic energy and cyclonic storms in detail. 

The shot was captured by the Juno spacecraft on May 12, 2024, during its 61st close flyby of the oldest planet.

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system, The image was enhanced by citizen scientist Gary Eason, and shows a close view of Jupiter’s northern hemisphere with swirling clouds and storms throughout in shades of white, blue and dark orange. At the center, of the image, two white circular formations and a circular one just below look like a face with an open mouth.

⁣The picture has sparked widespread attention, gaining over 400,000 likes and several comments on social media.

During the time the raw image was taken, the Juno spacecraft was about 18,000 miles (29,000 kilometres) above Jupiter’s cloud tops, at a latitude of about 68 degrees north of the equator.

A user pointed out Juno's ongoing mission has been revealing Jupiter's secrets since 2016, providing scientists with valuable insights into the planet's atmosphere. 

A person compared Jupiter to earth by writing, "Is this Jupiter?! It is very similar to the earth!!!"

The latest image is a proof of the spacecraft's distinct capabilities and the beauty of our solar system's largest planet.
