Congress MP Karti Chidambaram on Tuesday called for the establishment of a national task force to address the issue of stray dogs in the country and said that an ethical and scientific approach is needed to effectively tackle the problem. Karti Chidambaram's demand for the establishment of national task force for tackling the stray dogs issue came after the death of Wagh Bakri scion Parag Desai. The 49 year-old executive director of the renowned Wagh Bakri Tea Group succumbed to severe brain injuries on Sunday, which he sustained after falling on a hard surface while being chased by stray dogs during an evening walk on October 15.

Karti informed that he has highlighted urgency to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) as well.

He further stressed on the necessity of addressing the stray dogs issue on a national scale, stating that it is unreasonable to expect inadequately equipped local administration authorities to handle the problem effectively.

“We need a national task force to deal with the stray dogs issue immediately. An ethical and scientific approach is needed. Expecting inadequately equipped local administration authorities to deal with this is pointless. I have highlighted the seriousness and urgency to the PMO,” the Congress leader wrote on X.

We need a national task force to deal with the #StrayDogs issue immediately. An ethical & scientific approach is needed. Expecting inadequately equipped local administration authorities to deal with this is pointless. I have highlighted the seriousness & urgency to the @PMOIndia https://t.co/gG12ijMbyg
