Mankote: The Indian Army, on Tuesday, averted a major tragedy in the Mankot sector of Poonch district by recovering two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing approximately 15 kg and 8 kg. Both IEDs were high-powered IEDs and are now being detonated using controlled explosions by the Bomb Disposal Squad.
Earlier today, suspected explosive material was recovered in the Mankote area of the Mendhar sub-division in Poonch, which on analysis turned out to be an IED.
The IEDs were recovered at around 1845 hours in the Sangar-Kashbalari area in an operation carried out by the Indian Army's local unit, Rashtriya Rifles, and Mankote Police.
