Doda Encounter: After twin encounters in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, another encounter broke out in Kashmir's Doda District on Tuesday. According to the reports, the gunfight started after the security forces traced and trapped 3 terrorists, who are said to be Pakistan-based terrorists, in the Goli-Gadi forests in the Bhagwah area of Doda. Police sources stated that two of the three terrorists sustained injuries during the battle in the forest area.

A senior police official said that a terrorist group was trapped in Doda on Tuesday afternoon, following which the security forces took the position and encircled the area. At around 5.15 PM, the encounter started in the Gadi Bhagwah forest area, located in the upper reaches of Doda.

Encounter Is Underway in Doda

Official sources said a cordon and search operation was launched in the Goli area following information about the presence of terrorists in the area.

During the search operation, the hidden terrorists opened fire on the security forces. The security forces retaliated, which led to a massive gun battle in the area. During the encounter two of the three terrorists reportedly sustained injuries. Further details regarding the ongoing battle are being awaited.

This year, on June 26, three Jaish terrorists were killed in the Gandoh area of the Doda district, during an encounter.

Earlier, a day before the encounter broke out in the Doda district, an Army vehicle was ambushed by terrorists in Jammu's Kathua, during which five Army Jawans were killed in the attack, while 5 others were injured.

A day before five army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer, were killed and as many were injured when heavily armed terrorists ambushed a patrolling party in the remote Machedi area of Kathua district in Kashmir. Following the attack, Kashmir Tigers, a shadow outfit of the banned Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), claimed responsibility for the attack. It was the second terrorist attack in Kathua within a month.
