Dhanush Slammed For Claiming He Is An 'Outsider' At Raayan Event: Bro Thinks He Is Rajinikanth

Dhanush is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Raayan. Ahead of the film's release, the makers hosted an audio launch event in Chennai from which the Ranjhana actor's speech has gone viral. The actor referred to himself as an ‘outsider’ and narrated the reason for buying a new house in the same neighbourhood as his ex-father-in-law and superstar Rajinikanth.

Dhanush shares why he got a new house in Rajnikanth's neighbourhood

Dhanush's recent property purchase has become a topic of discussion on social media. The actor purchased a new home in Chennai's Poes Garden which also houses Rajinikanth. Speaking at the Raayan audio launch, Dhanush shared, "If I knew buying a house in Poes Garden would have become such a big topic of conversation, I would have simply got a small apartment. Should I not buy a house in Poes Garden? If I live on the street, should I stay there only?"

He went on to explain why he desired to buy a house in the posh location. He shared, “We (him and his friends) were told, this is Jayalalithaa’s house. I stopped the bike and looked — on one side, there is Rajini sir’s house, on the other is Jayalalithaa Amma’s house. I thought to myself that one day, somehow, I want to buy at least a small house in a posh locality like Poes Garden. The Poes Garden house today is a gift to the 16-year-old Venkatesh Prabhu (his birth name).” However, his comments did not sit well with netizens.

Dhanush receives flak on social media

Despite the inspiring story, social media users called out Dhanush for glorifying his struggles and pointed out that he was born to an affluent family, unlike Rajinikanth. An X user pointed out, “Rajinikanth and Jayalalitha are self-made actors. He is Nepo kid! How dare he compare himself with them.” Another said, “Bro thinks he is Rajini. Dhanush summa overscene poduren (He’s simply overdoing it now).” Another user wrote, “Great actor – on screen and unfortunately off the screen too. Immense respect for Dhanush, the actor but have lost considerable request for him as a person. Disappointed!”

Another user argued that Dhanush was a renowned star by the age of 20 and was married to Rajinikanth's daughter Aishwaryaa at 20, making him even more famous. A user wrote, “What is this new level of idiocy from Dhanush? The guy says that the incident happened when he was 16 y.o. Was he an outsider back then? No. His father was a well-known director who had lost his magic."
