The Gujarat High Court has stayed the release of Maharaj, the debut film of Aamir Khan's son Junaid, on Netflix. The decision was made after followers of Pushtimarg, a Vaishnava sect of Hinduism, claimed that it would hurt their religious sentiments. Following the stay order, petitioner Shailesh Bhai Patwari came forward to shed light on the issue.

Why was the petition filed against Maharaj?

In a conversation with ANI, petitioner Shailesh Bhai Patwari said that they had filed a petition on June 13 and narrated their ordeal. He said, "We told the Court what are they saying about our Hindu gods, that they are presenting false things...So, this is being done to create differences between Hindus and Muslims. This should not be done and the screening of the film should be stayed. They went in for OTT so that the film could be easily passed..."

He further added, ".The Court heard our play and put a temporary stay on the film till 18th June. Today, their advocates had approached the High Court demanding that the stay be lifted. But High Court refused it and told them to come on 18th June in the second half when the Court would hear them.."
