Did You Know Blake Lively Became Deadpool In The Marvel Universe Much Before Ryan Reynolds?

Deadpool and Wolverine hit the big screens on July 26. The Ryan Gosling and Hugh Jackman starrer Marvel movie has been creating ripples at the box office ever since its release. Apart from the massive box office reception, the movie has also stirred a conversation among social media users. The spoilers, cameos and easter eggs are all that the fans of the franchise are discussing online. One instance from the movie that has caught great intrigue is who plays the role of Lady Pool in the action flick. The actress who plays the role has herself indirectly confirmed her appearance in the film. 

Is Blake Lively Ladypool in Deadpool & Wolverine?

A scene in Deadpool and Wolverine features a series of Deadpool arriving together to confront Ryan Reynolds' character. Leading the troop, is a Lady Pool whose face remains converted with a mask for the entirety of the scene. Her Deadpool suit and blonde hair tied in a ponytail become her only identification. While the makers of the movie never reveal the character's face, it was suspected that Blake Lively, Ryan Reynold's wife, would play the role. 

An Instagram post made by the Gossip Girl actress has furthered fuelled the rumours of her being a part of the film. On July 27, a day after the movie's release, the actress shared a series of photos from the film's premiere. She shared those photos, including one in which she looks like Ladypool, with a long note. In the note she mentions, “In 2010 I was on Gossip Girl and about to film my first superhero movie, The Green Lantern with my kind Canadian costar @vancityreynolds He told me, our other costar, another superhero newby @taikawaititi and all of us about @deadpoolmovie for the first time. It was a “meta” superhero. Most of us didn’t know what exactly meta meant back then. Except Taika bc he’s always been more brilliant than the rest of us mortals. We understood in theory, but how it would come together for an audience was murky, for everyone but him. It wasn’t a real dream. The movie was never gonna happen.” 

Blake Lively was a part of Deadpool even before the movie began 

Adding to her caption, Blake Lively mentioned that in 2010, long before the Deadpool movies were made, the creator of the character Rob Liefeld drew an unmasked Lady Pool based on her. She shared a screenshot of the post from the comic-book writer in which he revealed that the character was based entirely on Blake. In a post made in 2022, he wrote, “I pleaded a strong case that Wanda Wilson was a stunning blonde, no scars and Marvel thought that was a cool idea. Invoked Blake on GG and they gave me the thumbs up. Serena Van Der Woodsen forever. If ever we are blessed with Lady Deadpool on screen I’m pretty certain Ms. Lively will have some say in the casting.”

Blake concluded her note by writing, “Just before all this in 2010, @robliefeld drew an unmasked Lady Deadpool for the first time, go to the next slide for his words. @deadpoolmovie wasn’t real. And Rob had no idea I was working with @vancityreynolds. 12 years later I read Rob’s post. A year after that, @deadpoolmovie 3 was filmed. And today it’s in theaters. The universe has such a magical sense of humor sometimes. @slevydirect in a league of his own. On and off screen. There will never be another. His insane body of work speaks for itself. Thank you buddy for bringing me along with you in ways big and small. What a ride you’re all in for… @deadpoolmovie IN THEATERS NOW.” 
 

Blake's post has gone viral on social media confirming fan theories that she is in fact Ladypool. Additionally, reports have even claimed that Blake was credited as Ladypool in the end credit sequence of the movie. Apart from Blake, fans had suspected that the best friend of the actor Taylor Swift could also be the character.
